DETAILED VISIT INFORMATION
ITINERARY FOR THE GUIDED TOUR OF THE CATHEDRAL, ROYAL CHAPEL AND HISTORIC CENTER
The tour begins in Bib-Rambla Square, next to the Fountain of the Giants. From there, you’ll pass through the Alcaicería, the old silk market of Muslim Granada. Next, you’ll visit the Royal Chapel, built by order of the Catholic Monarchs in 1504, where the tombs of Isabella I, Ferdinand II, Joanna I of Castile, and Philip I are located, along with a collection of Flemish paintings of Queen Isabella and her personal belongings in the sacristy museum.
From there, you’ll access the Madraza, the Arab university founded by the Nasrid sultan Yusuf I in the 14th century, which preserves one of the best-preserved Nasrid coffered ceiling rooms in Granada. The tour ends at Granada Cathedral, built in 1523 on the site of the city’s main mosque and the first Renaissance cathedral in Spain, with five naves and a circular main chapel.
