In 2 hours you walk through the historic centre and the lower part of the Albaicín, two key areas for an overview of the city without entering monuments.

The free tour starts in Plaza Bib-Rambla and ends in Plaza de Santa Ana, right in the centre, so you can keep walking on your own when it finishes.
FULL ITINERARY OF THE WALKING TOUR THROUGH GRANADA

The route starts in Plaza Bib-Rambla, around the Fuente de los Gigantes, where the guide gives an introduction to the main history of Granada and outlines the focus of the walk, designed to orient you in the city before you go deeper on your own.

From there we reach Plaza de las Pasiegas, with Granada Cathedral explained from outside, including curiosities such as why it was built on that site and why it has only one tower. A few steps away we discuss the Church of the Sagrario, connected to the Cathedral, to understand the site of the city's old mosque and the curiosity of the perpetual prayer in its chapel.

The walk continues through the Alcaicería, the old souk, with its history from its foundation in the 14th century linked to the silk trade and the fire it suffered in the 19th century. Around the Royal Chapel, also from outside, we explain the role of the Catholic Monarchs and the context of burials and family, before stopping at the Madraza, with its trompe-l'oeil façade and the reference to the oratory preserved as a former Islamic school.

The second part enters the lower Albaicín, with an introduction to the neighbourhood and the historic defensive system, passing the Church of San Gregorio Bético. The stretch continues with the birthplace of Enrique Morente, linking his figure to the evolution of flamenco in Granada, and ends at the Placeta de Carvajales, one of the small viewpoints of the neighbourhood, with the Alhambra opposite and a few minutes for photos while the guide points out other viewpoints.

The free tour ends in Plaza de Santa Ana, next to the Pilar del Toro fountain, with a final explanation about the river Darro and the close of the route.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION FOR OUR GUIDED VISIT IN GRANADA
This free tour works as an introductory visit to Granada, lasting about 2 hours, and is done entirely on foot. We do not enter monuments and it does not include transport, because the idea is to walk the historic centre and link up with the lower part of the Albaicín on the same route. When you book, you receive a voucher with the key tour information and the meeting point so you can find the guide easily. Bear in mind that accessibility changes by stretch: the centre is comfortable to walk, but the Albaicín has cobbles, slopes and steps.

ACCESSIBILITY
The first part of the tour, in the centre of Granada, is fully accessible. The second part, in the Albaicín, is not accessible for wheelchairs because of cobbles, slopes and steps, and may be difficult for reduced mobility.
LARGE GROUPS
If you are more than 8 people, we recommend booking a private tour to adapt the visit to the group's needs and keep a comfortable pace.
CANCELLATIONS FOR THE FREE TOUR OF GRANADA
Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the start. The activity runs as normal, except in the event of an official closure due to bad weather or restrictions that prevent the route from being completed. To change the date, you can reschedule your booking.

View on Google MapsThis tour should not been taken by anyone who is not in pretty good physical condition as there are a LOT of steps and lots of walking. That said, this two part tour was brilliant. Both guides we had were friendly and very knowledgeable and made the tours interesting. We took the bus (C32) from the Isabel la catolica stop and got it back to the same stop. You can walk but we were so tired after the tour we decided not to. Definitely a tour we would recommend.
