In many slots we start with the Generalife, the sultans' country estate and its gardens, spending about an hour understanding why this space worked as a summer palace and how it has changed over time. From there we cross the Secano, also called the medina, the stretch where part of the population lived inside the Alhambra and which serves as the transition to the most monumental part of the route.

Next comes the Palace of Charles V, the great 16th-century Renaissance building inside the enclosure. We go around its main surroundings and explain its context without entering the rooms that now work as museums. Then comes the Alcazaba, the oldest, military area, with time to understand the defence of the complex and see Granada from the watchtowers.

The longest part is the Nasrid Palaces, lasting about an hour and a half. Here we walk through the former home of the sultans and explain the architecture, the plasterwork, the tilework, the poems on the walls and the Nasrid legacy that makes this visit in Granada unique.

If your ticket time puts the Nasrid Palaces first, the tour adapts and usually continues with Charles V, the Alcazaba and the Generalife, without missing any of the areas open to the public. There are departures in Spanish, English and French. Groups do not mix languages, so the explanation is continuous and you can follow it without interruptions.

AVAILABLE TIMES
In Spanish there are morning and afternoon slots depending on the season.
From 15 October to 31 March, 9:00 to 12:00 and 14:30 to 17:30.
From 1 April to 14 October, 9:00 to 12:00 and 16:30 to 19:30.
In English it runs all year from 12:00 to 15:00.
In French all year from 11:30 to 14:30, except Mondays and Sundays.
MEETING POINT
We meet at Paseo del Generalife 1F, by the ticket offices. There is an esplanade with a GUÍAS sign and the team waits with an orange umbrella so it is easy to spot.
ACCESSIBILITY
The Alhambra has limited accessibility. With a pushchair the full route cannot be done, and we recommend a backpack or baby carrier. With a wheelchair the Alcazaba cannot be visited, and both the Generalife and the Nasrid Palaces are done in a reduced form because of the layout of the monument.

After booking you receive a voucher by email with the relevant tour information. Just show it on your phone; no need to print.
FAMILIES AND PETS
It is a family-friendly tour, but if you come with a baby it is best to avoid a pushchair because of the type of route. Pets are not allowed.
LARGE GROUPS
The maximum per group is 30 people by regulation. For groups of more than 6 people an audio system is provided. It is essential to carry physical ID because access control is strict and it may be requested at different points along the route.
CANCELLATION POLICY FOR THE VISIT TO THE ALHAMBRA
The guided visit to the Alhambra is non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled under normal conditions. The reason is simple and worth knowing before booking: tickets are named and linked to your ID, and the monument itself does not allow changes because of capacity and access control.
If you need to change the date, in practice it means buying the tickets again and making a new booking, because the cost of the ticket already issued cannot be recovered.
The tour takes place even in bad weather, as the Alhambra rarely closes. Only in exceptional situations, such as very strong gusts of wind or other safety conditions, may specific areas of the site be closed.

View on Google MapsThis tour should not been taken by anyone who is not in pretty good physical condition as there are a LOT of steps and lots of walking. That said, this two part tour was brilliant. Both guides we had were friendly and very knowledgeable and made the tours interesting. We took the bus (C32) from the Isabel la catolica stop and got it back to the same stop. You can walk but we were so tired after the tour we decided not to. Definitely a tour we would recommend.

Does the tour include entry to the Nasrid Palaces?
Yes. The ticket we arrange for the guided visit to the Alhambra in Granada includes access to the complex open to the public and, within that ticket, the Nasrid Palaces come with an assigned time slot. That time sets the order of the route, but the visit keeps the main areas.
What ID do I need to bring on the day of the visit?
It is essential to bring the original ID of each participant: national ID card, passport or driving licence. Tickets are named and access control may ask for your document at different points of the site.
Can we go back into the Nasrid Palaces or the Alcazaba a second time?
No. Once you pass the control and the ticket is scanned, it is not possible to re-enter the Nasrid Palaces or the Alcazaba. The exception that usually allows more flexibility is the Generalife area, but it depends on how access is managed that day.
Can I enter with a backpack, suitcase or pushchair?
Suitcases must be left in the lockers. Large backpacks may also require a locker, and the permitted size is limited. As for pushchairs, they are not recommended because there are stretches where they cannot be used and you will have to leave them in adapted areas, which is why the guide recommends a backpack or baby carrier.
Is the tour accessible if I use a wheelchair or have reduced mobility?
Accessibility is limited. With a wheelchair some areas cannot be done in full, especially the Alcazaba, and both the Generalife and the Nasrid Palaces are done in a reduced version because of the physical layout of the monument. If you have reduced mobility, let us know so we can adjust the pace and the route as far as possible.
Can I cancel or change the date if something comes up?
On this tour, cancelling or rescheduling is very difficult because the named tickets are linked to your ID and the monument does not normally allow changes. Refunds are only considered in very exceptional cases, and changing the day normally means buying tickets again.
