In the Generalife, the visit moves through the part most linked to the gardens, the vegetation and the old orchards. The route then enters the Alcazaba, the military area of the complex, where the defensive role of the Alhambra and its relationship with the city are best understood. The Nasrid Palaces concentrate a fundamental part of the route, with their plasterwork, tilework, poems and spaces linked to the life of the sultans. The Alhambra visit is completed with the Palace of Charles V, which introduces another stage within the complex and helps to see how this place changes over time. The order of this part may vary depending on the time assigned for access to the Nasrid Palaces.

The other part of the route continues through the Albaicín and the Sacromonte, starting in Plaza de Santa Ana and moving along the Carrera del Darro, where the route reads buildings, remains and spaces closely tied to the history of the city. As you climb towards the Albaicín, the route passes points such as El Bañuelo, the Maristán, the Convent of Zafra, the Church of San Juan de los Reyes, the Aljibe del Trillo and the Casa de Aben Humeya, until reaching the Mirador de San Nicolás. From there, the visit moves towards the Sacromonte along the Vereda de Enmedio, entering a part of Granada closely associated with cave houses, views of the Alhambra and the history of the neighbourhood, passing the surroundings of the Caves Museum, the Fuente de la Amapola, the Mirador de Mario Maya, the caves turned into flamenco tablaos and the statue of Chorrojumo, before finishing at the Paseo de los Tristes.

MEETING POINT
The starting point is the Main Gate of the Alhambra, next to the ticket offices, in the area set aside for guides, on Paseo de la Sabika.
ACCESSIBILITY
The Alhambra part has limited accessibility and the route through the Albaicín and the Sacromonte is not accessible because of the slopes, steps and cobbles. For that reason the combined tour is not considered accessible.

FAMILIES AND PETS
It is a visit that can be done as a family, although the route through the Albaicín and the Sacromonte can be more demanding because of the terrain. As for pets, they are not allowed on the combined tour because of the regulations applied at the Alhambra.

View on Google MapsThis tour should not been taken by anyone who is not in pretty good physical condition as there are a LOT of steps and lots of walking. That said, this two part tour was brilliant. Both guides we had were friendly and very knowledgeable and made the tours interesting. We took the bus (C32) from the Isabel la catolica stop and got it back to the same stop. You can walk but we were so tired after the tour we decided not to. Definitely a tour we would recommend.
