This tour brings together in a single booking the visit to the Alhambra and the route through the Albaicín and the Sacromonte, three areas closely tied to the history and shape of Granada. The first part focuses on the monumental complex, with spaces such as the Generalife, the Alcazaba, the Nasrid Palaces and the Palace of Charles V. Afterwards, the route continues through two neighbourhoods that help place the city outside the Nasrid enclosure, on its streets, slopes and viewpoints.

ITINERARY OF THE ALHAMBRA, ALBAICÍN AND SACROMONTE TOUR

The route starts at the Alhambra, where the first part of the visit takes place. Inside the complex you pass through key areas that show how this space was organised: the Alcazaba, as the defensive area; the Nasrid Palaces, where the palace life unfolds; the Palace of Charles V, from after the Islamic period; and the Generalife, linked to orchards, gardens and spaces for rest. Access to the Nasrid Palaces sets the order of this part of the itinerary.

After the visit to the enclosure, the activity continues around the river Darro and enters the Albaicín. From Plaza de Santa Ana, the route moves along the Carrera del Darro, one of the stretches that best connects the city with the Alhambra hill. From there, the climb passes points of the old Andalusi quarter such as El Bañuelo, the Maristán, the Convent of Zafra, the Church of San Juan de los Reyes, the Aljibe del Trillo and the Casa de Aben Humeya, until reaching the Mirador de San Nicolás.

The last part takes place in the Sacromonte, following the hillside along the Vereda de Enmedio. On this stretch you find spaces such as the surroundings of the Caves Museum, the Fuente de la Amapola, the Mirador de Mario Maya and the caves adapted as flamenco tablaos, together with the statue of Chorrojumo. The route ends at the Paseo de los Tristes, closing the visit back at city level.

ACCESSIBILITY
The Alhambra part has limited accessibility and the route through the Albaicín and the Sacromonte is not accessible because of the slopes, steps and cobbles. For that reason the combined tour is not considered accessible.

FAMILIES AND PETS
It is a visit that can be done as a family, although the route through the Albaicín and the Sacromonte can be more demanding because of the terrain. As for pets, they are not allowed on the combined tour because of the regulations applied at the Alhambra.

View on Google MapsThis tour should not been taken by anyone who is not in pretty good physical condition as there are a LOT of steps and lots of walking. That said, this two part tour was brilliant. Both guides we had were friendly and very knowledgeable and made the tours interesting. We took the bus (C32) from the Isabel la catolica stop and got it back to the same stop. You can walk but we were so tired after the tour we decided not to. Definitely a tour we would recommend.
